Victims of Political
Correctness Cases
The Case of Sarah Desrosiers...
....taken to an employment tribunal for not offering a
hairdressing job to a Muslim lady who wore a headscarf
You
may remember the case of Sarah Desrosiers
(pictured) who was taken to a tribunal for religious discrimination for not
offering a hairdressing job to a Muslim lady who wore a headscarf. She was ordered to pay out £4,000 as compensation.
The
panel said, “We
were satisfied by [Miss Desrosier’s] evidence that the claimant was not
treated less favourably than [Miss Desrosier] would have treated a woman who,
whether Muslim or not, for a reason other than religious belief wears a hair
covering at all times when at work” and
found that the whole £34,000 being claimed by the Muslim lady, Bushra Noah, was
not due.However, they still made
Sarah Desrosiers pay £4,000 for “injury to feelings” on top of her own
legal bills and the loss of income she had
suffered by having to attend the tribunal!
Laura
Midgley went to meet Sarah Desrosiers at her salon near Kings Cross with a view
to offering her the money to cover the £4,000 compensation. The Campaign Against Political Correctness felt that the situation was so
outrageous it would have been completely unacceptable for nothing to be done
about this.
We
really need to support victims of political correctness in a practical way and
this is sadly but one example of the sort of thing we are up against. The fact that this hairdresser has not had to pay her fine (although she
still had to suffer the upset and stress of the whole incident) is a start. We are looking out for similar cases now where we can not only try to
help at the end stage but also see if anything can be done to assist earlier on
in the case.
The Case of Deva
Kumarasiri...
....who
found that saying that his customers should speak English cost him his job
.
The
Campaign was delighted to support Deva
Kumarasiri
too for taking such a brave stand and we very much hope he will continue with
his own personal campaign against this aspect of political correctness in the
future.
As
and when others speak out in a similar way we will continue to support them too.
If
you want to donate specifically for other future cases please just send a cheque
payable to “CAPC” or donate via the link below so
that we can support other unfortunate victims of this terrible side to political
correctness in a meaningful way.
